If Spring brings anything other than two full days of sunshine in London, it’s the unveiling of sun deprived legs, frantic attempts to join the gym, & not knowing whether or not to take out an umbrella. & bright nails 😀
I’ve whipped a few old favourites out of hibernation in anticipation of sunny days to come. (Today was piping hot, so I wore Barry M Pink Flamingo on my nails. It looks great with the slight tan I’m developing!)
Sparkle & Fade Unknown Shade (14ml) I bought this shade last Summer (or the one before) from Urban Outfitters. There’s no name on it, but it’s an opaque, creamy chartreuse. I don’t think it’s available anymore. If you like it, it reminds me of Illamasqua Radium – minus the shimmer.
Barry M Mint Green (10ml/£2.99) I don’t really think of this as a minty green – it leans a little too blue for that. I do like the shade, but this particular colour has a watery/slightly streaky formula. It has a cream finish & takes a few coats to become opaque.
Barry M Turquoise (10ml/£2.99) Like Mint Green, I don’t think this shade is a true turquoise. It lacks enough green, so I’d class it as a darker sky blue. The formula is easier to work with & goes opaque in two coats.
Barielle Daring Dahlia (14ml/£8.00) Is a beautiful fuchsia with fine fuchsia & silver shimmer. It has a jelly like texture, but is surprisingly opaque. Like most Barielle polishes, I find that shimmer sinks to the bottom of the bottle between each use & the colours tends to separate, so it needs a good shake before use.
17 Miami (12ml/£2.99) I think this range has been discontinued, but I love this bright hot pink shade. It has a cream finish, & is very opaque & glossy. It lasts a surprisingly long time on me before chipping (everything else averages 2-3 days, this can last up to 5) so I’m disappointed that this range has gone!
Rimmel Tangerine Queen (8ml/£2.99) Is a true bright orange with a cream finish. It’s pretty much fully opaque in one coat, but I find that the formula gets thick very quickly & becomes difficult to work with.
Rimmel Coralicious (8ml/£2.99) This was my favourite shade to wear last Summer. It’s a beautiful deep coral with no shimmer. Like Tangerine Queen, the formula thickens significantly after a couple of months, but it’s a nice opaque shade & easy to apply before it becomes gloopy.
Barielle Blossom (14ml/£8.00) Is a bright peach shade. Its slightly streaky on the first coat, but recovers on the second. I find the formula to be a little thin, & the yellow in the shade often separates to the top. It’s a beautiful colour so I’m willing to work with it, but only just.
Is there anything you’d recommend I try next? I don’t have easy access to Zoya, so I’d appreciate recommendations before I eBay!
